Four terrorists were gunned down by the security forces during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir early this morning. Two among them are thought to be the special police officers who were reported missing since yesterday, officials said.
The operation has been jointly launched by army, police and CRPF at Pulwama in south Kashmir when they received information about the presence of terrorists there, a police officer said. The terrorists reportedly belong to Jaish e Mohammed. The gun fight broke out following the terrorists opened fire at security personnel, forcing them to retaliate.

Officials say three rifles have been retrieved from the encounter site.The encounter includes two weeks after a woman was shot dead by terrorists at her home in the district. On Wednesday, terrorists forced their way inside the house of Nigeena Bano and killed her. Still another civilian defined as Mohd Sultan had been injured in the attack, the authorities said.
The security forces have scaled up anti-terror operation from the Valley. According to reports, over 100 terrorists, including 23 foreigners, have been killed in Kashmir in the initial five years of 2019. They include high commanders such as Zakir Musa, also the principle of alleged Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, an organization affiliated with alqaeda.
On the list of terrorists murdered, Shopian accounted for a max of 25. Pulwama was next with the killings of 15 terrorists, accompanied closely by Awantipora together with 14 and Kulgam with 1 2, news agency PTI reported.
